Volunteers plant Spartina alterniflora

Volunteers plant smooth cordgrass, Spartina alterniflora, as part of the restoration work at the Eastern Neck Refuge, Queen Annes County, Maryland, in May, 2000.  Projects such as this one use cutting-edge, water-quality monitoring technology; extensive community participation; and hands-on restoration work to conserve vital wetland habitat.
