CAMEO windows display a listing of the chlorine stored at a water treatment facility

The first version of CAMEO was created in 1986 by NOAA’s spill scientists, with design advice from firefighters who respond to hazardous materials incidents. Later versions have drawn on chemical response, planning expertise, and financial support from the EPA and the U.S. Coast Guard. Here, CAMEO windows display a listing of the chlorine stored at a water treatment facility (upper left), reactivity hazard information for chlorine (lower left), and the area potentially affected by a chlorine release from the facility (foreground).
