NOAA Ship Nancy Foster

Following Hurricane Katrina, the NOAA ship Nancy Foster was diverted from regularly scheduled activities to help survey port areas in Mobile, Alabama. The Nancy Foster, a coastal oceanography vessel, was outfitted with multibeam and side scan sonar and carried an ad hoc Navigation Response Team from NOAA's Office of Coast Survey to conduct the surveys needed to reopen the port.
