During its history, NCEP has had five directors: Dr. George Cressman (1954-1964), Dr. Fred Shuman (1964-1981), Dr. Bill Bonner (1981-1990), Dr. Ron McPherson (1990-1998), and Dr. Louis W. Uccellini (1999-present), as well as two long-term acting directors: Mr. James Howcroft (1990) and Dr. James Hoke (1998-1999).
